Hanno Valve is a professional China Gearbox Gate Valve manufacturers and suppliers. We have been specialized in carbon steel gate valves more than 25 years. Our valves have a good price advantage and cover most of the European markets. We look forward to becoming your long-term partner in China.
Gearbox-Assisted Manual Operation
The main purpose of the gearbox is to reduce the manual effort required to operate a large gate valve. Instead of applying the handwheel force directly to the valve operating mechanism, the gearbox provides mechanical advantage through gear transmission.
This configuration is particularly useful when the valve is large or the operating torque is too high for practical direct handwheel operation.
Wedge Gate Valve Design
The gearbox is combined with a wedge gate valve. The gate moves to open or close the pipeline, providing the basic isolation function expected from a gate valve.
When the valve is fully open, the gate is lifted out of the flow passage, allowing the valve to perform its full-bore isolation function.
Large Size and High Pressure Classes
Hanno Valve provides gearbox gate valves from DN150 to DN1400, with pressure classes available up to Class 2500.
This range allows the gearbox configuration to be considered for large-diameter industrial pipeline systems where manual operation is required.
ISO 5210 Top Flange
The valve is available with an ISO 5210 top flange for potential future actuator upgrading.
If a project initially requires manual operation but may require actuator operation later, the actuator interface can be considered during the valve selection and purchasing stage.

The material configuration should be checked against the final valve drawing, technical specification and purchase order before production.
The gearbox gate valve is intended for industrial pipeline systems where manual isolation is required and the valve operating torque makes direct handwheel operation impractical.
Pipelines
Large-diameter pipelines can require higher operating torque. The gearbox provides mechanical advantage for manual valve operation and is therefore suitable for large pipeline isolation applications.
Refineries
Refinery piping systems use isolation valves across different process and utility lines. The gearbox configuration can be selected for large valves where manual operation requires additional mechanical advantage.
Power Plants
Power plant piping can involve large valve sizes and higher pressure classes. Hanno Valve gearbox gate valves are available up to Class 2500 for applications that require the corresponding pressure class.
Water Systems
Large water pipelines may use large-diameter isolation valves. A gearbox can make manual operation more manageable when direct handwheel operation requires substantial operating torque.
API 600
The valve is designed according to API 600 requirements applicable to steel gate valves.
ASME B16.34
ASME B16.34 is used as a design standard for the valve.
API 598
Valve inspection and pressure testing are carried out according to API 598 as specified for the product.
The exact inspection documents, testing requirements and additional project standards should be confirmed according to the customer's technical specification.
Hanno Valve is manufactured by Zhejiang Hengnuo Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd., located in Bihu Valve Industry Area, Lishui, Zhejiang, China.
Hengnuo has more than 25 years of valve manufacturing experience. The company has a production area of approximately 18,000 m² and around 150 employees, including more than 32 senior technicians.
The company's main products include:
Hengnuo also has its own foundry. The foundry uses precoated sand technology to produce castings for valve manufacturing.
This manufacturing setup allows the company to maintain its own casting capability as part of the valve production process.
1. Confirm the Valve Size
First determine the required nominal size.
The Hanno Valve gearbox gate valve range provided for this product is DN150–DN1400.
2. Confirm the Pressure Class
The pressure class should match the requirements of the pipeline system and project specification.
The available range extends up to Class 2500.
3. Consider the Operating Method
If the valve is large or direct handwheel operation would require excessive operating torque, a gearbox-operated configuration can be considered.
4. Confirm the Required Standards
For projects requiring specific valve standards, confirm whether API 600, ASME B16.34 and API 598 are applicable.
Additional project requirements should also be confirmed before production.
5. Consider Future Actuation
If the valve may later be upgraded from manual operation to actuator operation, confirm the ISO 5210 top flange requirement during the selection stage.
Please contact us for professional valve‑selection assistance. Our engineering team will offer technical guidance and quotation according to your working‑condition parameters.
| Item | Gearbox Gate Valve | Direct Handwheel Gate Valve |
|---|---|---|
| Operation | Handwheel + gearbox | Direct handwheel |
| Gear Transmission | Yes | No |
| Torque Multiplication | Yes | No gearbox multiplication |
| Large Valve Operation | More suitable when operating torque is high | May require greater manual effort |

The main advantage of the gearbox configuration is its mechanical advantage during manual operation. It does not change the basic isolation function of the gate valve.
1. Why use a gearbox on a gate valve? A gearbox is mainly used when valve size, pressure class or operating torque makes direct handwheel operation impractical. It multiplies input torque to make manual operation easier.
2. What sizes and pressure ratings are available? The Hanno Valve gearbox gate valve is available from DN150 to DN1400, with pressure classes up to Class 2500.
3. What materials are used for the valve? Our standard configuration uses ASTM A216-WCB for the body and ASTM A182-F6a for the stem (see full list above). In addition, we can supply alternative materials for specific services, including LCB/LCC for low-temperature, WC6/C5 for high-temperature, and CF8/CF8M for corrosion-resistant applications.
4. Can the valve be upgraded to actuator operation later? Yes. The valve is provided with an ISO 5210 top flange as standard, which allows for future electric or pneumatic actuator upgrading if project requirements change.
5. What is the typical lead time? For standard size and material configurations, our production lead time is approximately 30 days. For special alloys or urgent orders, please confirm with our sales team.
6. Which design standards are followed? The valve is designed and manufactured according to API 600, ASME B16.34, and tested per API 598.
7. What information should I provide when requesting a quotation? To provide an accurate quotation, please specify the required size, pressure class, media, operating temperature, and any special material requirements (e.g., LCC, WC6, CF8M). Project standards and required documentation (e.g., Mill Test Reports, NDE) are also appreciated.
